1. Today I did a lot of things, I first began the day writing out late slips and taking students from class to the counselor. I then began organizing files for a majority of the time, putting emergency cards and student records in alphabetical order. And finished my day by making several copies of lessons for an english teacher on an old and slow copy machine. I was really out of it today and didn't really feel anywhere close to 100% and was moving and getting things done slowly...
2. Not counting today, I have become more proud of my work, like i've mention before through this WLE experience this year I have learned that sometimes my opinion doesn't matter. By understanding this I feel less nervous about my work and care less than before of what people think of my work. So far it has really paid off and has given me strong and critical (positive) feedback.
3. I love my work place, I seem to always like doing office work and being in charge of multiple things. I am never doing the same thing over and over. But all good things never come without one fault, the one thing I do not enjoy about my workplace is I constantly find myself doing nothing, as much as I ask or suggest things I can do for my mentor, I find my self sitting quietly, doing NOTHING. Quite frankly, I love doing nothing, but it concerns me when it's on my time that I should be working.

Blog #2: My Mentor (MAKE-UP)
1. Today I shadowed my mother, her name is Ginger Brice and she works for a K-1 Special ED class. She teaches her students how to read, write and spell words correctly.
2. The typical day for Ginger is teaching her students in a very organized way, she uses organized schedules for each student to plan out what they do next. Pretty simple, the students either follow the schedule or they loose the fun parts of the schedule to a sort of ‘time out’. Unfortunately the majority of her day is keeping the kids on track because most of them are distracted or want to throw shoes or puzzle pieces at me…
3. Ginger was a student in school who had ADHD and she succeeded in school, she wanted to teach people who have disabilities so she can give kids the chance she had. My mom went to Cal State Eastbay, where she earned her masters in teaching mild-to-moderate special education. But today, she is currently working towards a mild-to-severe due to the fact it is more preferred.

Blog #5 Progress on my WLE Project (MAKE-UP)
1. Today I basically helped out at my front office: collecting students, helping parents, etc. I then help special education student do and arts project and set-up the multi-purpose room for lunch.
2. We mapped out the final details and I finished my Project Plan draft.
3. I have completed my project, I made 400 letters of truancy, I then signed and dated all the letters, and lastly sent half of them out and organized the rest in a binder. I just need to now finish my last Project plan draft and I will be finished with my whole project.

Blog #8: Professionalism (November 29th 2011)
1. Oh God, the memories....I was constantly looking for opportunities in the area I wanted to work in after college. I would call places, visit places, and fill out applications and be the best person I could be. After that 'dream' died out, I decided to look for areas where I excelled in other than computers. I then decided office work was my next best thing, I began calling schools and finally I got an opportunity at Ochoa.
2. Be confident, being nervous makes you do stupid and clumsy things. Be yourself, don't try to be what your not, because it's obvious you will fail as that. Lastly, sell yourself, make yourself stick out from the rest of the people who are trying to get this opportunity. Look like you would make a difference to the company if you were hired.
3. In the real world, it's not school; no goofing off, no talking with friends, no texting, no food, etc. No exception. I've learned that you are a dog and do what you are told. Sometimes what you are told to do is fun, sometimes it's boring. But you will get over it. It's all fun and games till the infamous pink slip appears on your desk.

Blog #7: What I've Learned, Reflection (MAKE-UP)
1. I learned that I am a very good assistant office manager, I huge thing I learned about myself during WLE is: even though I think my work is bad, other people think differently. This has allowed me to make my own decisions, strong and effective decisions on my own that my mentor appreciates.
2. One of the biggest challenges I faced was not understanding everything, I've never been to Ochoa before WLE and I had to learn room locations and everything about the school so I could help people and parents navigate around the school. I also needed to learn how to use the phone, how to write late slips, and much more. All this stuff I needed to learn in the first few days was crucial to how I performed in the long run and has a huge affect on my work out put.
3. There were not many life lessons in this work, like I said in #1, I learned that: my opinions on my work are different from other people opinions. I found that some of the work I did, I was not proud of, but my work still impressed my co-workers and I feel more confident in my work now not only at my WLE but also in class and in my personal life.
4. My creativity came into effect when I would have to use effective problem solving, to overcome certain tasks I would sometime go on my own to solve these problem and I think of creative and simple ways to solve my problems. Since this hasn't stopped me from getting strong feedback, I think it is working quite nicely.
5. My WLE placement affected a variety of people: staff, students and parents. Staff I was able to do aarons for them and make their work a little easier. For students, I was able to direct them from place to place, write late slips, etc. With parents, I was able to navigate them to where they needed to go, translate for spanish speaking parents, and help parents who were concerned with there childen.
6. I've always believed this and so do many at us at Impact believe it. OFFICE MANAGERS RUN THE SCHOOL. This just makes me think about how we don't appreciate our office manager, Linda, as much as she deserves *hint hint*. I think there should be a national office manager day. But getting back on topic, as an office manage you are doing a whole variety of work and are constantly working. I learned how difficult and stressful all this work is.
7. Refer to number 3.
8. I would respond by staying I became a part of the staff at Ochoa, almost all the staff knew who I was and knew what I was capable of. This allowed me to really excel in this environment and do great things, such as my WLE Project, and how that impacts everyone.
9. Well by learning that my opinion differs from other people's opinions, this has aloud me to be more comfortable with my work and have a stronger work output. Since people's opinion have made me nervous in the past and lowering my work output, so I know what found another way to strengthen my work output at home, school and at my WLE.

Blog #6: Leadership Skills (November 15th 2011)
1. I am currently overusing the leadership skills: thinking critically and completing projects effectively. I have been working in a School office and me being older than most of the Student Assistants I am able to make stronger decisions in certain situations. I am also given bigger tasks which I am able to complete on-time and sometimes even before the expected time, with flying colors. By using these leadership skills I am able to not only complete my work on time and make strong decisions, I also get strong feed back on my work.
2. I am using these leadership skills quite well, I don't like to base it off my opinion but rather the opinion of my peers, and quite frankly my peers love me. I think that I am doing a good job with my leadership skills when my peer acknowledge my work and even the 'higher ups' notice my sucess.
3. The leadership skills help me work to complete my work in a complete and organized fashion. This allows me to complete more work, help other teachers and staff, and ultimately make me a better worker in general. There is not much to say, I complete my work and am constantly acknowledge for my work.
4. ALL OF THEM! She is constantly working, always busys, and yet finds the time to deal with me and all my work. She emulates strong critical thinking by making decisions for the whole staff, collaberating with all the staff and executing processes together with other staff, she completes all her projects on time and keeps it organized with all she has on her plate.
